What to send
Send 1 compressed (.sit or .zip) folder that packages all components of your project including fonts, text, and images.
On Mac 0S10, >Create New Folder >Drag layout, images, fonts, and other components into the folder, then select 'create archive'.
Print-Ready PDF
Print-ready pdf files may be submitted. "Print-Ready" includes: 1/8" bleed, cropmarks, images 300dpi at output size for offset printing, 150 dpi at output size for digital and large format printing
File name conventions
Your uploaded file name must be at least 3 characters plus extension. In naming your file, do not start with a number, and do not include spaces or control characters such as slashes or parentheses in the name; filenames with these may be automatically rejected by the server for security reasons.
Which Layout programs?
Submit files in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Quark. Illustrator files need to be outlined; also include fonts just in case. We can not work with files in Publisher, Word, PowerPoint, FrontPage etc; if you work in these programs, submit a Print-Ready PDF.
Fonts
Include all fonts, including those used in .eps files.
Use only post-script printer fonts, not screen or system default fonts. Do not apply style attributes such as bolding or italicizing to basic fonts.
Images
Image resolution should be 300dpi at output size for printing, 150dpi for large format posters. Images may be CMYK or RGB. RGB images are converted to cmyk in our rip, using GRACOL commercial profile. There is no benefit for you to convert images to CMYK before printing unless you use a GRACOL profile targeted to our press (call for addl info).
Bleed and Trim
Images that go to the edge of the piece need to extend (bleed) 1/8" beyond the trim to allow for cutting tolerances
Images and other elements that do not bleed need a minimum tolerance (live area) away from the trim:
- Business Cards minimum space from trim 3/16"
- Postcards minimum space from trim 3/16"
- Larger items 3/8" space from trim
Pagination/Imposition
Supply your multi-page project as consecutive pages starting with 1; do not impose for printing, we will do that at no extra charge. If you have a separate cover, supply this separately as cover pages 1-4. A low-res hard copy is very helpful for larger projects.
